Here is some excellent information if you have any plans for going to Mexico or Canada, instead of your home country, to get your H1-B stamped.

I have a better idea, don’t come back. I miss having a job. With 20 years of Electrical Engineering and Computer science work and study behind me and after training my cheap H1B replacement, I’m getting to old not to have Health Insurance. Please don’t take this personally, your just being used as a tool to lower my wages. Go home and form a union, or start a business of your own.
thomas, if you really have 20 + yrs of work and or experience and being a us citizen, you are not even in the same league as a h1b. and no good employer worth working for is going to replace 20 yrs of exp with a cheap h1b employee ..so either you are lying or unable to market yourself if you are vying for jobs with a h1b employee

Actually it’s quite common for older tech workers to be replaced with cheaper H1B visa holders. Companies don’t want experience they want cheap pliable workers.
Less than 10% of Us born engineers are working as engineers 10 years after graduation.
Also, it is quite common as Thomas pointed out for American workers to train their replacements.
George,
Where did you get that stats? USA lost some of the jobs because of heavy outsourcing, not H1B. The H1Bs themselves get a lot less but the H1B sponsor companies make good money and cost to the client is nearly same (except the benefit/bonus/promotion part). H1Bs are often used because they do not scream a lot during the weekend support or overtime as opposed to their USA competition. This is my experience as a manager.
The problem with people like you is that you completely forget outsourcing as your main pain and then run after the lowly-paid but over-worked foreigners. Why do not you call your senator and get a legislation against outsourcing? That is more productive than running after the foreigners, is not it true?
